State Park Information

Along the beautiful Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County, 11,684 acres of lush woodlands have been set aside for hiking, hunting, fishing and communing with nature.

A total of 23 miles of forest trails challenge all levels of hikers. In addition, the Allegheny Trail winds through the forest and the nearby Greenbrier River Trail is easily accessible from Seneca.

Seneca Lake is stocked with trout in the spring and fall, and the Greenbrier River offers many species of fish, including smallmouth and rock bass.

The river is also popular in the spring for canoeing and tubing. Numerous picnic sites, a playground and boating on the small lake make this a family destination. Swimming is offered nearby.

For overnight visitors, eight completely furnished cabins feature stone fireplaces, refrigerators, wood burning kitchen stoves and gas lights. Free use of boats is extended to cabin guests.

The cabins offer a glimpse of pioneer life with nearby hand pumps for water and pit toilets.

Rustic camping is another option. The small campground provides picnic tables, level tent and trailer pads, fireplaces, drinking water and toilet facilities. Firewood and rental rowboats, canoes and paddle boats are available.

Cabins and the campground are open from early April to early December. Reservations are recommended for the cabins.
