State Park Information

Named for the horseshoe curve of the North Fork of the Hughes River, North Bend State Park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful, pastoral setting.

The park offers fishing streams, hiking trails, abundant wildlife and excellent accommodations.

The park has a 29-room lodge, restaurant, conference facilities, cabins and campground.

The North Bend Rail Trail is a 72-mile abandoned rail spur used by hikers, bikers and equestrians. The trail is part of the 5,500-mile coast-to-coast American Discovery Trail.

The trail traverses wild areas, farmland and towns. It stretches from I-77 near Parkersburg in Wood County to Wolf Summit in Harrison County as it journeys through 13 tunnels and crosses 36 bridges.

The trail meets North Bend State Park at Cornwallis. T

Trails within the 1,405-acre state park are shared by hikers and mountain bikers.

Anglers fish the river and a small pond. When the water is high enough, it is suitable for canoes and johnboats.

A special strength at North Fork is its recreational facilities for the disabled, which include a paved fitness trail and, for the visually impaired, bicycles, horseshoe pits and ball courts.

Access roads to the park lead from Cairo and Harrisville.
