The 3,117-acre habitat includes open water, marsh, sagebrush, grasslands and wooded areas around the reservoir.
Pheasant, quail and mule deer are also common.
Although no camping is available on the refuge, there are campsites available at Hat Rock State Park, five miles north on Hwy. 730.
The administrative office for the refuge is the Mid-Columbia River Complex located in Pasco, Wash.
To reach the refuge, from Hwy. 395 in Hermiston, take Highland Hills Road east, which turns into Loop Road. The refuge is approximately six miles from Hermiston.
