Scoured from glacial sand and gravel, spring-fed Pearrygin Lake is an oasis of outdoor recreation in Washington's upper Methow Valley.
The 696-acre state park is set in the rolling, sagebrush-covered foothills of the spectacular North Cascades, once prime hunting grounds for Native Americans.
These hills support a wide variety of wildflowers, including lupines, larkspurs, mariposa lilies, sunflowers and roses. There are no formal hiking trails, but visitors are free to roam the deer trails that traverse the park.
Pearrygin Lake is a major waterski and motor-craft destination, but paddlers may enjoy a peaceful float during the morning. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and there is a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier.
Park campgrounds along the lake offer 70 full-hookup sites, 27 water and electric hookups and 66 standard sites. Reservations are highly recommended.
Come winter, the park is enjoyed by cross-country skiers and snowshoers. It is closed for camping from November through March, when there are no restroom facilities available.
The most common wildlife is deer, marmots and ospreys.
