The Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a spring migration stop for Canada geese and ducks, mainly mallards and pintails.

The refuge is also a wintering area for tundra swans, Canada geese, ducks and bald eagles. The refuge is a major nesting area for the common snipe and one of two known nesting areas for sandhill cranes in Washington.

The refuge covers 6,225 acres of marsh, meadows, grasslands and forest.

General public access is limited to the visitor contact station near the trailhead to Willard Springs foot trail. County roads that are adjacent to or run through portions of the refuge provide scenic rides for both cyclists and motorists.
