State Park Information

The McNary National Wildlife Refuge, a resting and feeding area for up to 100,000 migrating waterfowl, is located southeast of Pasco off U.S. Hwy. 395, just south of the Snake River.

Other primary wildlife species at the refuge include tundra swans, snow geese, green-winged teals, Northern shovelers, canvasbacks, redheads, ring-necked ducks and lesser scaup.

The refuge includes 15,000 acres of water and marsh, croplands, grasslands, trees and shrubs.

The two-mile trail is open daily to visitors who wish to discover nature with a walk on their own. A self-guided text related to numbered Posts along the trail is available.

Photographers can use a large photo blind that features special vents and glare-free backdrops. The blind, built by volunteers, has a large seating area with windows oriented toward the water for casual visitors and student activities.
