At the mouth of the Newport Harbor, Fort Adams State Park provides an exceptional panoramic view of both Newport Harbor and the East Passage of Narragansett Bay.
The park offers professional soccer fields, a rugby field, a saltwater beach staffed with a lifeguard, two boat ramps, picnic areas with 40 tables, fishing piers and one sailing regatta building with lockers and showers.
Fort Adams is perhaps best known for its summertime jazz, folk and blues festivals that attract thousands who enjoy music and beautiful surroundings.
Located within the park is the Fort Adams Sailing Association, which offers the public sailboat instruction, rental, drysail storage and hoist operations.
The Museum of Yachting displays photographs, models, costumes, boats and yachting memorabilia from the turn of the century.
