The Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge protects 242 acres of shoreline, including salt and freshwater marshes, rocky cliffs and barrier beaches, all of which provide resting and feeding areas for a large and diverse number of migratory birds.
More than 200 bird species, including waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds and passerines, inhabit the refuge seasonally.The refuge boasts the largest winter population of harlequin ducks on the East Coast.
A three-mile trail system winds through the upland areas and along the rocky shore.
Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge is renowned for its fantastic saltwater fly fishing. Contact the office for night permits.
A visitor center offers information, public programs and restroom facilities.
