Prince Gallitzin State Park, located in Pennsylvania's Allegheny Plateau region, offers access to a 1,600-acre lake that attracts boaters, anglers and swimmers.
Warm-water species, such as bass, pike, walleye and muskie, populate the lake. Two streams which feed the lake are stocked with trout. Bow fishing is permitted in a designated area.
Non-powered boats and boats up to 20 hp are permitted on the lake. Watercraft can be rented at a marina in the park. There is also a boat tour.
The swimming beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Hikers can use nine miles of trails.
Seven miles of trails are designated for cross-country skiing, and snowmobilers use a 20-mile network of trails. Other winter recreation includes ice boating, ice-skating and ice fishing.
Many people come to Prince Gallitzin to view deer, turkey and bear. About 5,000 acres of the park are open for seasonal hunting.
Park facilities include a 419-site campground, 10 modern rental cabins and multiple picnic areas.
