Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park offers comfortable year-round camping among tall redwoods. A continuous stream of visitors enjoy hiking trails, swimming holes, lush riverbanks and more than 1,000 acres of redwood, mixed conifer and oak forest.
Trails lead to a river, meadows and forest groves and also to Pfeiffer Falls and Big Sur Gorge. There are panoramic views of Big Sur Valley. The starting point for trips into the Ventana Wilderness is located a half-mile south of the park at Big Sur Station.
More than 200 campsites are available without hookups near the Big Sur River. There are also two 35-person group sites, a bike-in camp for 20 people, a spacious playing field and picnic facilities.
The Big Sur Lodge operates room and cabin accommodations and a swimming pool for private guests. The nearest beaches are Pfeiffer Beach off Sycamore Canyon Road and at Andrew Molera State Park four miles up the coast.
The park is 26 miles south of Carmel on Hwy. 1.
