State Park Information

Hiking, camping, picnicking, cross-country and downhill skiing, wilderness backpacking, fishing and scenic drives attract visitors to the great expanse of the Angeles National Forest.

The forest's San Gabriel and Sheep Mountain Wilderness offer good fishing and rugged terrain with elevations ranging from 1,800 to 8,200 feet. Visitors cannot build rock ring campfires in the forest due to year-round high fire danger. Portable stoves are permitted, but a California campfire permit is required.

A portion of the Cucamonga Wilderness is in the Angeles forest. Rough terrain, sharp peaks and steep mountainsides characterize this wilderness.

Water is scarce and visitors should carry in their own water. No trace camping is mandated. A wilderness permit is required for entry.

A National Forest Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required for visitors who park in high-use recreation areas on the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino national forests. A daily Adventure Pass is $5 and annual passes are $30.

The passes may be purchased at Forest Service offices,

from local vendors, over the phone or via standard mail. America the Beautiful passes are available at www.store.usgs.gov/pass or by calling 888-ASK-USGS or at most offices of the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Land Management. Valid Golden Age and Access Passes continue to be honored.
