The California least tern and snowy plover, two threatened species, find sanctuary at Huntington State Beach.
Visitors enjoy great bird-watching because the park abuts the 114-ace Huntington Beach Wetlands Preserve.
In addition to birding, visitors enjoy biking, surfing, surf fishing and inline skating. Fire rings are available for bonfires.
There is a paved, wheelchair-accessible path to the beach, and a beach wheelchair is also available.
The beach is two miles long, extending from Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach south to the Santa Ana River on the Newport Beach boundary.
