Excellent coastal fishing is the hallmark of Refugio State Beach.
Swimming, hiking and picnicking are other ways to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Palm trees have been planted near Refugio Creek and they provide a distinctive look to the park's camping area.
Because Refugio hosts the western terminus of a 2.5-mile bike trail that links to El Capitán State Beach, there are campsites specifically for hikers and bicyclists.
There are a total of 85 developed campsites. The campground is closed seasonally.
Some campsites and picnic sites are wheelchair accessible.
