Lyman Lake State Park is a playground for anglers, waterskiers, birdwatchers and archaeologists.
The 1,500-acre lake is fed by the Little Colorado River. The water has created a lush valley and fertile habitat for wildlife. The 6,000-foot elevation of the park produces moderate temperatures year-round.
More than 600 years ago, the Pueblo and Mogollon cultures inhabited the area. The prehistoric ruins at the park are known as the Rattlesnake Point Pueblo.
The site is accessible by land or water for guided tours.
Guided tours of the archaeological sites are available from the first weekend in May to the last weekend in September by reservation.
Anglers have a restricted, no-wake area to fish for channel catfish, walleye and largemouth bass.
Park facilities include a swimming beach, picnic areas with tables and grills, 61 campground units with showers and hookups, a dump station, boat ramp, camper supply store, and restrooms. Cabins and yurts are also available.
There are hiking trails in the rolling hills inside the park.
