Lake Havasu State Park is an adventurer's delight with beautiful beaches, boat ramps and campsites along the lakeshore. Visitors can also motor out to one of the secluded, boat-in only campsites along the water's edge run by the Bureau of Land Management.
Lake Havasu was formed when the Colorado River was dammed at the city of Parker, Ariz. Fishermen vie for largemouth bass, bluegill and crappie.
The park is also a great place for rockhounds. Volcanic rock, geodes, jaspers, obsidian, turquoise and agate are found outside Lake Havasu City.
The park's main facility is the Windsor Beach Unit located within Lake Havasu City, about one mile from the London Bridge.
Park facilities include a campground with restrooms and showers, boat launch ramps, a fishing dock and jetty, a 1.5-mile walking trail and small interpretive garden.
A quiet time is observed at the campground from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
A word of caution to summer visitors: It's hot! Temperatures can easily reach 120 degrees F, making water and shade essential for people and pets.
