Buckskin Mountain State Park is located between the Buckskin Mountains and the Colorado River and is home to the reclusive desert bighorn sheep and bobcat.
Hikers can explore the territory along two developed trails that ascend the bluffs overlooking the river. In the evening, wild burros can be heard braying on the California side of the river.
The river provides calm waters for boating, fishing, waterskiing and swimming. Anglers try for largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish and bluegill.
The Colorado River Indian Tribes' museum, located 12 miles south in the city of Parker, explores the Native American history of the region.
The park also offers a campground, beach, trails, cabanas, boat ramp, a restaurant and picnic area.
