State Park Information

Mount Nebo rises 1,350 feet above the mountain valleys of west central Arkansas and offers a fantastic view of 34,000-acre Lake Dardanelle.

Mount Nebo State Park occupies the top of this mountain plateau.

Mount Nebo has been a popular vacation area since before the Civil War. A resort hotel was built in the 1890s to accommodate steamboat passengers traveling up the Arkansas River. Visitors flocked here to enjoy the cooler mountain temperatures in summer.

State Hwy. 155, which zigzags up the eastern side of the mountain, provides a beautiful scenic drive along a series of tight hairpin turns.

Lodging at the park includes both one-, two- and three-bedroom housekeeping cabins, available year-round. A wooded campground offers 24 camping sites, tables, grills, water and electricity and 10 hike-in sites with tables, grills and tent pads.

A swimming pool and bathhouse, rental bicycles and a visitors center are also available. Interpretive programs teach visitors about the geology, history and natural environment of Mount Nebo. There are also 14 miles of hiking and nature trails at the park.

Hanggliding enthusiasts find this mountain an exciting launch point.

The park is seven miles west of Dardanelle on Ark. 155.
