Lake Catherine State Park

Located between Malvern and Hot Springs in the Ouachita Mountains, Lake Catherine State Park skirts 1,940-acre Lake Catherine. A scenic drive meanders down the mountains to the lake.

Winding nature trails overlook delicate streams and waterfalls. White-tailed deer and other wildlife inhabit the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.

The park offers rental boats, a marina, boat launch, picnic sites, playgrounds, laundry and trails. A visitor center, offering gifts, groceries and snacks, overlooks a swimming area and nature center.

Visitors can find a peaceful retreat in one of 18 fully-equipped cabins nestled along the lakefront. Each cabin has a kitchen and most have fireplaces.

Seventy campsites also are available; campers must register at the visitor center before occupying a site.

Interpreters provide guided hikes, boat tours, nature programs and workshops during the summer.
