Kofa National Wildlife Refuge comprises 665,400 acres of Sonoran Desert, 516,300 of which are designated wilderness.
The refuge has the best-known grove of native fan palms in Arizona and the largest population of Mexicana desert sheep in the United States.
Wildlife observation, photography, camping, hiking and hunting are popular activities, but visitors should be sure to bring plenty of water, a hat and sun protection.
All vehicles and mountain bikes must stay on the refuge's designated roads. No off-road travel is permitted.
Visitors are encouraged to contact the refuge manager for current regulations regarding public use activities permitted on Kofa National Wildlife Refuge.
