Pond Creek, in Sevier County near DeQueen, preserves wetlands in the floodplain between the Cossatot and Little rivers.
The 27,500-acre refuge's goal is to protect and expand a valuable bottomland ecosystem to benefit migratory and resident waterfowl, neotropical migratory birds, wading birds and other wetland-dependent wildlife.
No visitor facilities are available. There are several access points along 49 miles of gravel roads.
Camping is limited to six designated primitive campgrounds and permitted only in conjunction with other wildlife-related recreational activities.
Hunting of squirrel, rabbits, deer, turkey and waterfowl is permitted.
Fishing is also allowed.
