From A.D. 1000 to 1550, Parkin Archeological State Park was the home of a Mississippi Period Native American village. In 1541, the Hernando de Soto expedition visited the area.
Today, tours and educational programs highlight this unique history.
During summer and fall, guided walks are offered, and visitors watch scientists conduct archeological excavations and/or lab work. In addition, visitors can see red fox, snakes and many bird species.
Additional facilities include an exhibit area, archeological laboratory, boat access, picnic area and playground.

The park is located at the junction of U.S 64 and Hwy. 184 north in Parkin.
