North of the Nancy Lake region is Willow Creek State Recreation Area, renowned for its stellar king salmon fishing.
The park is at the confluence of Willow Creek and the Susitna River.
From the beginning of the king salmon run in mid-June to the end of silver salmon fishing in late August, this site attracts thousands of anglers.
There is no boat launch, but there is a raft take-out in the campground for those who wish to put in at the Parks Highway bridge and float down the creek.
Other facilities include a campground with drinking water and toilets, a day use area and trails to and along the river.
The campground is closed in winter. There are no entry fees charged during winter.
