This 236-acre park on the shores of Dannelly Reservoir is known for the quality of its fishing.
The reservoir, created by damming the Alabama River, has exceptionally clean water, and anglers have good luck with bass, catfish and crappie, which run on the large side in Dannelly.
There are no swimming facilities at Roland Cooper, although a nearby U.S. Army Corps of Engineers site does offer swimming. The state park has a boat launch and rentals, and waterskiing is popular.
Accommodations include a primitive camping area, 47 campsites with water, electrical and sanitary hookups, and five modern cabins. There is an RV dump station.
Two hiking-only trails total 1.5 miles. The wooded terrain is scenic, and hikers may see deer, a wide variety of birds and even armadillos.
