State Park Information

Located 50 miles west of Pensacola, Fla., Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge covers 7,000 acres of coastal lands ranging from beach dunes to rolling pine and oak woodlands.

Bon Secour includes some of Alabama's last remaining undisturbed coastal barrier habitat with five miles of beachfront.

Endangered sea turtles nest at the Bon Secour refuge.

The refuge also is home to the gopher tortoise and American alligator.

Bon Secour is one of the major stopovers for migratory song birds, hosting more than 370 species. April and October are the peak migration stopover periods. During October, the habitat is also part of the butterfly migration route.

Guided tours are offered during February and March.
